I'm Wil Hurley, and DeedScout Ohio is based in Wheelersburg.

DeedScout Ohio started because I kept watching the same thing happen. Somebody would find a cheap house on the tax sale list or a piece of land out in the county, and they'd spend a whole evening bouncing between the auditor's site, the treasurer, the recorder and the FEMA flood map. And they still weren't sure what they were looking at.

So that's the job now. You send me a parcel, I pull the public records together, I look it over myself, and you get one report within 24 hours. No subscription required and no sales pitch.

I'll tell you up front what it isn't. I'm not a title company, an appraiser, a surveyor, an inspector or a lawyer. The report is research, and it's meant to help you ask better questions before you bid, not to replace the folks you'll still need before you close.

Right now I cover Scioto County, with Franklin County in the works.
